How to configure Android phones

To configure your Android phone to connect to your Conversant service you need to download and install a SIP softphone.

Sipdroid is a free application available for download from the Android Market. Follow these steps to set it up:

  1. Open Sipdroid
  2. Choose Settings by pressing the menu button
  3. Choose SIP Account
  4. Authorization Username: as provided by Conversant
  5. Password: as provided by Conversant
  6. Server or Proxy: as provided by Conversant
  7. Use WLAN: Yes
  8. Go back to the main Sipdroid screen and you should be able to make a call

By default all outgoing calls will be made through Sipdroid rather than through your cellphone provider. To change this:

  1. Open Sipdroid
  2. Choose Settings by pressing the menu button
  3. Choose Call Options
  4. Choose Preferred Call Type
  5. Choose the appropriate option

csipsimple is another free application available for download from the Android Market. Follow these steps to set it up:

  1. Open csipsimple. If this is the first time csipsimple has run the Easy configuration screen opens
  2. Integrate with Android: Yes
  3. Available on Wifi: Yes
  4. Tap Save
  5. Tap Add account. The Choose wizard screen opens
  6. Tap Basic
  7. Account name: Your name
  8. User: as provided by Conversant
  9. Server: as provided by Conversant
  10. Password: as provided by Conversant
  11. Tap Save
  12. You should now see the account is registered.

To set up a dial plan which will allow you to make calls directly from the address book please do the following:

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Tap the account. Scroll down.
  2. Tap Dial Plans and fill in the relevant fields described below.
  3. In Match Number: +x.
  4. In Remove Prefix: +
  5. In Add Prefix: 00
