FAQ - Gigaset phones

There's no dial tone on the phone

The Gigaset works like a cellular phone. To call a number you should dial the number on the handset and then press the call or dial button.

The message indicator is flashing

The message indicator on the phone will flash in two situations:

  1. if there is a missed call. Click on the message key (the one with the envelope on it). The screen will show Calls List. Click OK and the light will turn off.
  2. if there is a new voicemail message. Click on the message key (the one with the envelope on it). The screen will show something like NetAM: IP1. It will also show a number in brackets which is the number of messages waiting. You will get an email from us if someone has left a voicemail message.

Incoming calls go straight to voicemail

The Gigaset may have lost its registration with us. Please press the blue button in the centre of the base station:

  1. The handset should start ringing and should display a series of numbers - this is the IP address of the base station. If that says 0.0.0.0 then the base station has lost it's connection to the internet. Check your internet connection and also check that the base station is plugged into the network.
  2. If the handset doesn't ring then the base station may require restarting. Disconnect the power for 1 minute and then reconnect it. Wait for 2 minutes and then try another call.
  3. If the blue button is not illuminated then please check the power is connected.

How to transfer calls

You can do a blind transfer by doing the following:

  1. Dial ## while on a call. You will hear “transfer”.
  2. Dial the number that you’re transferring to and press #. The call will be hung up and will ring the other parties line.

You can do an attended transfer by doing the following:

  2. Dial the number that you’re transferring to and press #. The other parties line will ring.
  3. When the other party answers you can communicate with them. Hang up to complete the transfer.
  4. If the other party doesn't answer dial *0 and you will be able to talk to the original caller.
