This tool will configure Microsoft Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 to operate with our Managed Exchange service. Use this only if you are a customer of our Managed Exchange service.
-
Ensure Microsoft Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 is installed on the PC you are planning to configure and is functioning OK. Please also ensure that the machine you are configuring is connected to the Internet and you are able to browse web pages.
Remember to check for Office Updates from Microsoft to ensure your Outlook Software is up to date.
-
Ensure Microsoft Outlook is CLOSED before continuing with this guide.
-
Download and run the Outlook Configuration Tool.
-
Once the tool is running enter the following details:
-
In the Display Name box, type in your Display Name
-
In the Profile Name box, type in a name to remember this Outlook Profile by (you can just leave the default if you only use one Outlook profile)
-
Click Create Profile.
-
Outlook will start up and prompt you for your Username and Password to continue. Type in your User Login Name and Password supplied by your system administrator and then press OK.
NOTE: If you get prompted again to type these details straight away (and the password has been removed from the Password field), then possibly you have made an error with typing in the password. If you are sure your password is correct, please contact your system administrator to confirm the password is right in the system.
-
Outlook will begin configuring your profile so you can access your mailbox. Once the process has completed (approx 20 seconds), depending on whether you already had an Outlook profile configured, you may be prompted with an Outlook Profile box with the name of your new profile highlighted (as shown below). If so, click OK to load the new profile.
-
At this stage, you are ready to sign in to Outlook for the first time using your new mail profile. You will be prompted again with a Username and Password box. Use the same credentials as you did in step 5. These credentials are what you now use to sign in to your Managed Outlook account.
-
As Outlook opens, you will get a message advising that your account is opening for the first time and the final configuration is talking place.
-
Once the setup process is complete, Outlook will open and you are ready to go! If you have existing information in your mailbox, the synchronisation
process will now start as your new Outlook configuration replicates with the Managed Outlook system.
This may take anything from a minute to a few hours depending on how much data is in your mailbox and how fast your internet connection is. During the replication period, you are free to start using Outlook, sending emails etc. Once the replication process has completed, "All folders are up to date" will appear in the bottom right status bar within Outlook.
